MINISTER ÖZER: A SOCIETY IS AS STRONG AS ITS TEACHERSMinister of National Education Mahmut Özer attended the Professional Improvement Program for Teachers and School Administrations organized in Ankara. Özer noted that the Ministry will support school based professional improvement training programs adding that, "In other words, schools will define their requirements and necessity training programs and our Ministry will allocate the budget."
Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer attended the Professional Improvement Program for Teachers and School Administrations organized at MEB Meeting Hall in Ankara and gave information about increasing schooling rates, number of teachers and classrooms in the last 19 years.
He noted that they continue to support teachers while increasing the number of teachers in the education system.
"We must include school based local training programs to conventional professional improvement programs. "Professional Improvement Program for Teachers and School Administrators" is the main point of this approach. We have prepared a 120 hour training program for all school administrators," said Minister Özer.
"We do not wish school administrators to have financial relationships with parents"
Özer stated that the Ministry does not wish school administrators to have financial relationships with parents and they have developed a software program for the track of needs of schools.
The program will allow school administrators to visit good examples in their area and it will serve like a peer training program among school principals.
"The Ministry will allocate 282 million for the program"
Minister Özer noted that they have increased the budget allocated to professional improvement training programs for teachers and administrators by 28 times.
"The Ministry of National Education will allocate 282 million liras for the program. We will respond to all demands for schools regarding professional improvement training programs. A society is strong as its teachers," he added.
Context of the program
The program includes "professional improvement community", "teacher- administrator mobility program," and "school based professional improvement" activities.
Professional improvement community is on the job training based on practice that aims at maintaining interaction among teachers.
Teacher- administrator mobility program will include experience and information exchange and visit to 30 best example schools. Teachers and administrators will have the opportunity to observe career development, patent, useful model, brand and design activities carried out as a part of successful projects during the mobility program.
Meanwhile, school based professional improvement activities will be designed according to the special needs of schools.
