MINISTER ÖZER INAUGURATES A FINE ARTS HIGH SCHOOL IN BEYOĞLU

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer attended the inauguration ceremony of the Mustafa Kandıralı Fine Arts High School in Beyoğlu district of İstanbul.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said during his speech at the ceremony that his Ministry aims at raising children who are not only involved in academic studies but also have close interest in culture, arts, civilization and science.

"We also want to raise performers and artists. In this light, we cooperated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. We see that there are no fine arts high schools in 6 of our cities while we were carrying out projects in 95 fine arts high schools located in 75 cities of our country. We have founded fine arts high schools in these 6 cities within a few weeks," stated Özer.

Özer noted that the main focus of transformation in education in the last 19 years was to lift the barriers.

"We have lifted the accession barrier, we have lifted the headscarf ban. We have founded schools at places where female students are not enrolled in education institutions. Schooling rate among female students is higher than male students, today," reminded Minister Özer.

He said that his Ministry also focused on the improvement of fine arts education in addition to improving the quality of academic education.
