Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer received children coming from 81 cities of the country on the occasion of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day.

As a part of April 23 tradition, Minister Özer symbolically handed over his seat to Ankara Keçiören Tarhuncu Ahmet Paşa Secondary School 5th grade student Yağmur Sena Çeken.

Yağmur Sena Çeken said during the symbolic handover ceremony that, "Today is our day and we will carry the principles of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk from heart to heart and from generation to generation. Dear Minister, we learn to protect our country and flag, love other people and honesty from our teachers and parents. We will be worthy of your trust, support and love. We are addressing the children of the world as the luckiest children of the most beautiful country of the world, join our joy and let's fill the world with happiness."

Meanwhile, Minister Özer said that one of the most successful performances of teachers was their determination to continue face-to-face education during the pandemic.

Stressing that all teachers and students obeyed masks, social distancing and hygiene measures during the Covid-19 process, Özer said, "Our determination to continue face-to-face education is the reason why we celebrate this year with excitement and joy."
