SCHOOLING RATE OF FEMALE STUDENTS REACHED RECORD LEVEL

Schooling rates reached record levels as a result of campaigns achieved in education in the last twenty years. Education investments, conditional aid for female students as a part of social support programs, democratization steps in education, lift of antidemocratic practices such as headscarf ban and coefficient practice provided the opportunity to increase schooling rate of female students to a new record level.

Schooling rate of female students in secondary education, which was 39 percent in the 2000s , recently reached 95 percent and for the first time, the schooling rate of female students exceeded the schooling rate of male students.
 
With the increase in schooling rates in the last twenty years, the schooling rate of five year old children which was 11 percent in the 2000s reached 95 percent. Schooling rate in secondary education was 44 percent and now it is 95 percent. Net schooling rate in higher education increased from 14 percent to 48 percent today. For the first time, Türkiye reached the schooling rate average of OECD countries.
 
Schooling rate of female students are higher than male students since 2016 and it is higher than male students in higher education since 2014.
 
Concerning the schooling rates, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stressed that the most permanent and sustainable resource of a country is its human resources adding that, "Most important instrument in increasing the quality of human resources is education. Due to this reason, all countries are carrying out many important projects about schooling rates in order to compete with other countries."
 
Schooling rates exceeded 90 percent in all levels of education
Özer went on to say that, "We see that schooling rates especially in preschool, secondary and higher education was above 50 percent at the beginning of 2000s. Our education system witnessed a giant transformation in the last twenty years as we implemented education policies with the purpose of supporting disadvantaged families to enroll their children to schools and increasing the number of classrooms in all cities and provinces. Schooling rate in all levels of education exceeded 90 percent after our efforts."
 
Minister Özer shared the following information about schooling rates in the 2000s, "For example, the schooling rate of five year old children in preschool education was 11 percent and it is 95 percent today. Schooling rate in secondary education increased from 44 percent to 95 percent. On the other hand, the schooling rate in primary and secondary schools reached almost 100 percent. As of today, the schooling rate in primary schools is 99,63 percent and schooling rate in secondary schools is 99,44 percent. In other words, when we compare recent figures with the schooling rates of the 2000s, we see that the schooling rate in all levels of education exceeded 95 percent for the first time."
 
Winners of the process are the female students
"Winners of this process are the female students," said Minister Özer, "There has been a significant increase in the schooling rate of female students. For example, the schooling rate of female students in secondary education, which was 39 percent in the 2000s, recently reached 95 percent. On the other hand, there are no longer problems about the schooling rate of female students in primary and secondary school levels. For the first time, we have completely solved the schooling rate of female students at the end of twenty years."
