THE MINISTRY SUPPORTS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF 650 WOMEN TEACHERS ASSIGNED TO VILLAGE SCHOOLS

Till now, 650 teachers benefited from the "Insurance of Education: Teachers" Project initiated by the Ministry of National Education for supporting women teachers working in rural areas in the early years of their profession.

Till now, 650 teachers benefited from the "Insurance of Education: Teachers" Project initiated in cooperation between the Directorate General for Teacher Training and Development Programs affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, Turkish Education Foundation (TED) and Zurich Insurance Company for supporting women teachers working in rural areas in the early years of their profession.
 
Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said, "The goal of the project is to reduce environmental, psychical and occupational problems of teachers to minimum, reinforce their knowledge and increase their motivation. Our purpose is to support professional and personal development of female teachers who were assigned to work in rural areas like villages in their early years in profession, help them to make a better start in their careers and improve their professional skills."
 
Özer stated that the project will allow teachers to make a positive impact in the lives of their students.
 
The project also aims at providing support to teachers in their local and social adaptation and to found social entrepreneurship models.
 
"In the first stage of the project, 50 female teachers were included in the project. Then, we include 100, 200 and 300 teachers and finally we have reached a total of 650 female teachers.  As a part of the project, teachers attended "professional development", "personal improvement" and "social entrepreneurship" training programs. Ultimate goal of the project is to reach 1,500 village teachers by the end of 2024," said Minister Özer.
