MEB STARTS "ACADEMIC SUPPORT" PROGRAM FOR VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO WILL BE PREPARED FOR YKS

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that they have completed the preparations for the Academic Support Program, which will be launched from the next academic year, for senior students in vocational and technical Anatolian high schools who want to prepare for the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS).

Minister Özer made statements regarding the Academic Support Program, which will be implemented by the Ministry of National Education for the first time in order to support the career planning students studying at vocational and technical Anatolian high schools as they become senior students.
 
Noting that a new university preparation model will be implemented for vocational high school students who have applied approximately 250 thousand technical programs after finishing the third year of high school and become senior student, Özer informed that in order to support their career planning, they offer two new options for senior students in vocational and technical Anatolian high schools to continue their skills training in enterprises or to receive intensive academic training by choosing the appropriate academic field.
 
Books and course schedules are ready
Minister Özer announced that they have completed the "12th grade academic support courses" and "weekly course schedules" prepared by the Ministry of National Education Directorate General of Vocational and Technical Education for the new model for students who apply the vocational and technical Anatolian high school Anatolian technical program to be implemented for the first time in the 2023-2024 academic year.
 
Noting that 24 textbooks have been prepared for students who will be prepared for YKS within the scope of the Academic Support Program, Özer said that the Basic Proficiency Tests (TYT) and Field Proficiency Tests (AYT) to be carried out by OSYM are taken into account in the YKS preparation books as part of the Academic Support Program prepared by the Ministry experts.
 
Students were offered with 4 different options
Regarding the YKS preparatory books, Minister Özer said that they have prepared 4 different options; Mathematics and Science, Mathematics and Turkish Language and Literature, Social Studies and Turkish Language and Literature, Foreign Language Programs by taking the academic preference of the students into consideration. Özer announced that the Academic Support Program books will be on the desks of vocational high school students at the beginning of the 2023-2024 academic year.
 
Digital contents were published
Stating that the digital contents enriched as a question bank were published on http://meslek.eba.gov.tr and https://meslekmateryal.eba.gov.tr, Özer emphasized that in this way, senior vocational high school students were provided with the opportunity to prepare for university in digital environment as well as through printed books.
 
31 hours of YKS preparation course per week
Making a statement regarding the Academic Support Program that will be implemented in the 2023-2024 academic year, Minister Özer said that students who are registered in the Anatolian vocational program of vocational high schools and 11th grade and students in the Anatolian technical program whose success score is 70 and above at the end of the will be able to benefit from the support program. Stating that the students who choose the program will graduate from the Anatolian Technical Program, Minister Özer underlined that in addition to the regular curriculum students will be supported academically by taking 31 hours preparation course per week. Minister announced that among 231 thousand 373 students enrolled in Anatolian vocational program the students who fulfil the qualifications and 16 thousand 241 students enrolled in the Anatolian technical program will be able to benefit from the Academic Support Program.
