MEB TRANSFERS 242 THOUSAND 904 STUDENTS TO OTHER PROVINCES

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that a total of 242 thousand 904 students studying at preschool, primary, secondary and high school in ten quake-hit provinces were transferred to other provinces upon their requests.

Schools in quake-hit Kilis, Diyarbakır and Şanlıurfa, were opened on 1 March, in quake-hit Adana, Osmaniye and Gaziantep on March 13. Stating that they have taken all kinds of measures to facilitate the access of students in the disaster area to education in the province they want, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that as of today, 242 thousand 904 students from 10 provinces have been transferred to other provinces upon their requests. Özer said that they will always stand by children by supporting their education process.
 
Stating that Ankara, Mersin, Antalya, İstanbul and Konya are the provinces with the highest number of student transfers, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer noted that Ankara ranks first with the highest number of student transfers with 33 thousand 142 students. Noting that Ankara followed by Mersin with 22 thousand 300, Antalya with 21 thousand 832. He added that 18 thousand 452 students were transferred to Istanbul, 13 thousand 181 students were transferred to Konya.
 
Özer noted that 9 thousand 797 students transferred to İzmir, 8 thousand 16 students to Kayseri, 7 thousand 466 students to Bursa, 6 thousand 674 students to Muğla, 5 thousand 260 students to Aydın and 5 thousand 97 students were transferred to Elazığ due to the earthquake.
