MINISTER ÖZER COMMENTED ON THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR PREPARATIONS AT DISASTER AREAS

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated, "We allocated required funds for the cities. No one should doubt that all schools will be ready for the new school year until the beginning of the new education term.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer has been in constant contact with the authorities regarding the situation in the fire and flood hit areas since the beginning of the disasters and had a video conference meeting with regional and provincial directors of national education in the disaster hit areas to make a general assessment.
 
Deputy Ministers Ahmet Emre Bilgili, Petek Aşkar, Sadri Şensoy and related department directors were also present at the meeting in which Minister Özer received information about damage assessment, repair and maintenance of school buildings in the disaster areas.
 
Özer expressed his condolences to the families of those who died in the disaster and wished quick recovery to injured disaster victims.
 
Stressing that he will always support teachers, students and their parents who are living in the disaster hit areas, Minister Özer went on to say: "Our colleagues are in the field in order to respond to the needs of disaster victims and overcome deficiencies at schools.  Our teachers and counselors are providing guidance and psychological support for victims. Vocational and Technical Anatolia Schools and Vocational Education Centers are serving breakfast and dinner. We have taken required measures concerning transportation of students to schools. We have allocated funds to these cities. No one should doubt that all schools will be ready for the new school year until the beginning of the new education term"
 
Noting that the Ministry will provide all kinds of stationary needs of students and teachers, Özer thanked all teachers and Ministry staff who volunteered in rehabilitation activities such as assessment of the needs in the aftermath of the disaster, treatment of those who are harmed due to the fires and floods and repair of buildings.
