MINISTER ÖZER INAUGURATED THE YAVUZ BÜLENT BAKİLER LIBRARY

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer attended the inauguration ceremony of İstanbul Anatolia High School library named after poet and author Yavuz Bülent Bakiler.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said during the inauguration ceremony that Bakiler is a culture bearer and invested effort in the Turkish language.

Noting that the Ministry of National Education has been working in an effort to reinforce Turkish and encourage teachers and students to use Turkish in the best way possible, Özer said, "Our Ministry focused on Turkish, mathematics literacy and foreign language education this period. We have initiated a Turkish campaign and used our resources to help children to improve vocabulary.  One of the most important steps within this framework was the "No More Schools Without Libraries" project initiated on October 26, 2021 with the support of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's spouse Emine Erdoğan."

Özer reminded that they have founded 16,361 libraries within two months and they also enriched existing libraries as a part of the project. Number of books at school libraries reached from 28 million to 80 million during this period. The Ministry aims at increasing this figure to 100 million until the end of this year.

Özer noted that the Ministry also took steps in an effort to encourage scientists and intellectuals of the country to meet with students and visit schools once a month.

The Ministry names school libraries after important names from the cultural and artistic world.

Noting that Turkish people always have a positive relationship with books, Özer said, "Libraries are the cultural and artistic center and also the heart of schools. We will see that our students will read more."

Minister Özer got together with teachers
Minister Özer chatted with teachers and listened to their suggestions and views at the Teachers' Lounge.

Teachers thanked for free supplementary sources distributed to students and updated contents in the Teachers Information Network (ÖBA).

Minister Özer asked the views of teachers about the Teachers' Profession Law adding that the career steps model stipulated by the law was not a new regulation but the law lifted the quota for head and expert teacher positions.

He added that the head and expert teacher exam does not measure the efficiency of teachers and every system has exams about career steps.
