MINISTER ÖZER: THE SUSPENSION OF EDUCATION IN TÜRKİYE HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL FEBRUARY 20

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that the suspension of education which was until February 13 has been extended until February 20 in Türkiye.

Continuing his efforts in the quake-hit areas, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer was a guest of TRT live broadcast in Malatya. Making statements from Malatya Battalgazi Anatolian Vocational High School for Girls, one of the schools reserved for earthquake victims, Minister Özer expressed his wishes for speedy recovery to the injured people and pointed out that he was facing an earthquake that had never been experienced before.
 
Minister Özer stated that while organizing the processes in Malatya, they have been supporting the citizens in all provinces since the first day of the earthquake.
 
Underlying that as of now, they host approximately 450 thousand citizens in practice hotels, teachers' houses, schools and all other places with accommodation facilities under the Ministry, Minister Özer said that they provide hot meals for 800 thousand people in ten provinces affected by the earthquake and plan to increase this number to 1 million.
 
In addition to the distribution of 400 thousand food packages, Özer stated that they produce approximately 700 thousand breads per day in vocational high schools and will increase this number to one million by the weekend. Emphasizing that tens of thousands of volunteer teachers are on the field, Özer announced that education will start on February 20 in 71 provinces in order not to disrupt the process.
 
Minister Özer met with the MEB AKUB personnel working in the field. Stating that the support of AKUB gives them strength, Özer thanked the AKUB personnel for their efforts.
