NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL CONGRESS AND POSTER PRESENTATION CONTEST FINALS BEGAN

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer attended the National High School Congress and Poster Presentation Contest finals about environment and climate change and mathematics and it was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education and TÜBİTAK.

The Minister of National Education stressed during his speech at the finals that the most permanent capital of any country is human resources and education is the most important instrument that increases the quality of human resources.
 
Minister Özer reminded that the schooling rate of five year old children was 11 percent and schooling rate in secondary education was 44 percent in early 2000s. Noting that they have been carrying out important campaigns in education in the last 20 years, Özer said that the schooling rate of five year olds reached 99 percent as a result of these successful campaigns.
 
"Schooling rate in primary school education increased to 99.63 percent, it reached 99.44 percent in secondary schools and finally increased from 44 percent to 95 percent in secondary education. This is the result of campaigns carried out in the last twenty years under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. I would like to express my gratitude to our President for always allocating the biggest share of the budget to the Ministry of National Education," said Özer.
 
"We work night and day in order to give quality education to students"
Özer noted that his Ministry works night and day in order to give quality education to students without making any discrimination between regional differences and different types of schools.
 
Özer went on to say that, "Science and Arts Centers (BİLSEMs) are designed in order to support special talented children and help them to improve their skills. We have increased the number of BİLSEMs from 185 to 379 in 2022. Our wish is to provide easy accessibility to BİLSEMs and we will establish a BİLSEM in all of our districts in 2023."
 
Reminding that it was among the most important elements of Türkiye's Vision portrayed by President Erdoğan, Özer said that another priority of his Ministry is intellectual and industrial property rights. Özer stressed that dissemination of intellectual property rights is important and added that the number of registered products of schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education was 2.9 per year in the last decade. As a result of cooperation with the Patent Institution of Türkiye, 7,500 products were registered in the first 11 months of the year and it is expected that this figure will reach 8,300 until the end of 2022.
 
The National High School Congress and Poster Presentation Contest organized in cooperation with TÜBİTAK have two categories namely; mathematics and environment and climate change.
   
1,213 students from 337 schools applied to the contest with 666 projects
1,213 students from 337 schools applied to the contest between November 10 and 30 with a total of 666 projects; 489 of them being about environment and climate change and 177 about mathematics.
 
As a result of preliminary assessment of the TÜBİTAK jury, 98 projects were invited to display their works in the poster exhibition.
 
15 projects about mathematics and 15 projects about environment and climate change were qualified to complete in the finals.
  
First winner of the contest will be awarded with 12,500 TL, second will get 10,500 TL and third winner will be awarded with 8,000 TL.
 
Award ceremony will be held on December 28.
  
The activity aims at helping students to improve their analytical thinking skills
The congress and poster presentation contest set for December 26-28, 2022 aims at encouraging students to be involved in academic research, helping them to improve their analytical thinking skills and establishing a platform where they can share their works and information about scientific developments.
  
National High School Student Congress and Poster Presentation Contest brings students together with academicians, scientists and new technology companies.
