The Ministry of National Education considers each issue such as hygiene measures that should be taken before the beginning of the new school year and repair of school buildings located in the disaster areas separately and constantly monitors related developments. Within this framework, the situation of schools are evaluated according to the characteristics of each city."

Preparations for the new school year in İstanbul playing host to the largest number of students, teachers and education workers were discussed during a meeting chaired by the Minister of National Education and participated by Deputy Ministers Petek Aşkar, Ahmet Emre Bilgili and Sadri Şensoy, İstanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya, district administrators, department chiefs and İstanbul Provincial Director of National Education Levent Yazıcı.

Addressing the İstanbul Provincial Assessment meeting through video conference, Minister Özer stated that all problems such as lack of staff, resources and teaching materials were solved and all schools in the city are ready for the new school year. Minister Özer said, "All of our colleagues are taking an active part in the preparation activities. We are ready to welcome our students on September 6."

Stressing that İstanbul has a special status as a part of hygiene measures due to overpopulation, Özer went on to say, "We will be very careful to implement measures we define in cooperation with the Ministry of Health like we will do in other cities of our country. Under the coordination of the Governor's Office, provincial directors, school administrations, teachers, psychological counselors and guidance teachers as well as all school workers will strictly follow measures in an effort to prevent shortcomings in face-to-face education. All financial funds required to procure masks and hygiene materials are allocated to schools."
