TIE BETWEEN THE 20TH NATIONAL EDUCATION RECOMMENDATIONS AND EDUCATION POLICIES IS BOOSTED

The third report that assesses the relationship between the steps taken after the 20th National Education Council and recommendations of the council is published by the Ministry. Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that the Ministry is approaching the goals set out during the council meetings in the third report published in the meb.gov.tr web address.

20th National Education Council was held between December 1 and 3, 2021 under the themes of "Equal Opportunity in Basic Education", "Improvement of Vocational Education" and "Professional Development Training Programs for Teachers" and 107 of 124 articles voted in the General Assembly convened under the leadership of Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer were accepted unanimously and 17 of them were accepted with majority of votes. 2 of the total of 4 suggestions were accepted unanimously and remaining 2 suggestions were accepted with majority of votes in the assembly. As a result, the Council made 128 recommendations and a great majority of these recommendations were accepted unanimously.
 
Tie between the ministry's policies and recommendations is boosting
In his assessment concerning the third report about the 20th National Education Council recommendations, Mahmut Özer stressed that he has been closely monitoring the process and the Ministry prepared assessment reports every three months.
 
"Main result of the third report reveals that the relationship between the recent policies implemented by our Ministry and recommendations is gradually boosting. In the first report published in March, we see that 57 recommendations of the council were in relation with the recent policies of the Ministry. In July, this figure increased to 62 and it reached 68 in September. Equal opportunity in basic education was the most consistent theme and it has been observed that consistency between recommendations and Ministry policies are increasing in the improvement of vocational education" and professional development training programs for teachers," said Özer.
 
He added that Ministry policies are reflecting the views of education stakeholders.
 
Approaching towards target set as a part of existing policies
In addition to making assessments about recommendations and steps taken by the Ministry, the report also made comments about the achievements of the Ministry in its main policies.
 
Minister Özer said, "The report highlights investments required to reach the preschool schooling rate target, projects carried out in order to reduce opportunity differences between schools, results of the new approach in training programs for teachers and recent outcome of paradigm shift in vocational education.
